Origin: Mexico and Central America.
The ahuehuete is known as “Mexican Cypress” or “Sabino”. This tree is characterized by its thick, straight trunk, with spreading branches and small, scaly leaves. Its flowers are small and yellowish green, and it produces small cone-shaped structures that contain the seeds.

It has been traditionally used in herbal medicine to treat various ailments. Its properties include being an astringent, expectorant and diuretic. It is mainly used to treat respiratory problems such as cough, cold and bronchitis. It is also used to treat conditions of the urinary system and minor digestive problems.

To use it for medicinal purposes, infusions can be prepared with the leaves or bark of the tree. These infusions are generally taken once or twice a day.
