Guaje cirial

Guaje cirial

Origin: Central and South America

The gourd cirial is a special fruit that comes from the tree known as the “Sacred Tree of the Mayans” or “Jícaras Tree”, it is used in traditional medicine due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used to relieve respiratory conditions such as cough, asthma and tuberculosis.

To treat these conditions, a hole is made in the gourd and sherry, red or white wine is added without removing the seeds. It is left to macerate for 48 hours and a glass of the extracted liquid is taken three times a day before meals. In addition, the seeds of the fruit release a very nutritious edible oil. These seeds are roasted and ground with cinnamon to prepare a healing chocolate.
