Pericon

Pericon

Origin: Mexico and part of Central America El Pericón, or also known as “Mexican tarragon” due to its flavor similar to tarragon. It is used in traditional medicine for its medicinal properties. It contains compounds such as thymol and limonene, which give it antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition, digestive, carminative and stimulant properties are attributed to it. It is traditionally used to relieve digestive problems such as indigestion, stomach cramps and flatulence. It has also been used to treat respiratory infections and as an insect repellent.

To prepare Pericón, the leaves of the plant are used. They can be used fresh or dried. Infusions can be made by placing a teaspoon of dried leaves in a cup of hot water and letting it sit for a few minutes. It is then filtered and can be drunk warm. It can also be used in cooking as an aromatic herb to season foods.
